ABOUT TEACHERS' RESIDENCES. IBy TelezraDh—Press Association.! Christchurch, June 8. A circular was received by the Education Board to-day from the Education Department stating that there were 1100 teachers' residences in the Dominion, and of this number 454 were without bathrooms and did not comply with the regulations. Tho final clause of the circular was as follows:—"If your board will send in.a list of residences defective in any of the particulars named, dealing especially with those not more than 20 years old, and placing the cases in order of urgency, the Minister will be glad to consider it with the view of providing at least an instalment of requisite funds." Mr. Hardy, M.P., strongly deprecated the practice of sending out "these humbugging circulars." The Education Department, lie said, was full of fads and theories and it was time the theory principle was done away with.
