MANAWATU HUNT.

On Saturday afternoon last the Manawatu hounds met for' tile first time at Hnnitaugi. The course, which was arranged by Mr. J. L. Buiek, proved to be one of the finest which huntsmen have traversed this season. Although the. number following was not so large as at nieets in other parts of the district, owmg probably to the isolated situation, tho sport, however, was capital, and was greatly enjoyed by those who did put in an appearance. The huntsman, Air. D. Bennett, as usual, had the hounds in fino condition, and they made the pace very fast, from "throw off" to "kill." The trail, laid by Messrs. J. Donaldson and >V. Buick, commenced from Mr. G. Colev's ■property to Low's Road, where the first check was called. After ten minutes the hounds were ngain laid on, and led the held through tho properties of Messrs Rohorts Bros., and back into Mr. Colev's farm, where tho "kill" took place. Mr. J. L. Euick was in charge of the field. At tho conclusion of tho meet the party adjourned to Mr. G. Colev's residence where refreshments were " dispensed by Mrs. Coley and lady friends. Mr J Donaldson, on bolialf of the club thanked Mr. and Mrs. Coley and others for the generous manner in which tlicy had been entertained. He also thanked the property-owners for permitting the hunt to take place on their forms.
