HOME SEPARATION- AGAIN.

AUCKLAND DISCUSSION. The vexed question- of home separation formed (lie subject of a discussion at Pukekohe branch of the .Farmers' Union last week. 'Auckland is tlu> stronghold of home separation in Now Zealand, and owing mainly io the poorness of the loads, and the dilliculty of carlingi I lie whole milk out to the' creameries, (lie hand separator is in evidence on n big proportion of the dairy iarms. As home separation is being iuvoiired in other parts of the JJnminiou it is interesting to see what the Aucklaiulers have to say about it. At the Pukokohe meeting Ur. Jlorris, manager uf the Dairy ..Association factory, staled that after 23 years' experience he was a firmer believer than over in the creamery system. In his opinion the lower position that Australia was taking in the London market was. principally due to home separation. It was almost impossible by homo separation to get an oven grade cream, and whilo 70 per cent, of the suppliers might supply a satisfactory cream the 30 per cent, of unsatisfactory ones would prevent the manufacture of a high-grade butter. It was ouly by being careful and endeavouring to supply the best possible article that we might hope to retain the London market.
