Reuter's Paris agent states that the hope is firmly entertained there that, as the result of conferences between the British Chamber of Commerce, Mr. W. A. Dean (Minister for Agriculture in Natal), and Mr. Harrisoii (commercial agent), a commercial arrangement between South Africa and France will be entered into in the near future.

[France has already a commercial treaty with Canada, and the fact nas been used as n strong argument by British Tariff Reformers.]
