LORD ISLINGTON.

ARRANGEMENTS FOR RECEPTION. The new Governor, Lord Islington, is due to reach Wellington on Wednesday, June 22, and lie will be officially welcomed on the same day, at a ceremony to be held at the old Parliament Buildings. ■ The staging which was erected for the Royal memorial service is being retained for this purpose. The Mayoi (Mr. Wilford) will shortly initiate the arrangements for a public reception to lord Islington. It is anticipated thai this will take the form of a large gathering in the Town Hall, to which all the citizens will bo invited. This will ba held on the ev.ening of the day . on which the new Governor arrives, or as soon after as possible. It will be remembered by many that the official reception to Lord Plunket on his arrival took place in the Post Office Square, where a rotunda (since removed to Newtown Park) was erected for the purpose. Lord Kanfurly had embarked for England only a few hours before hie successor arrived, and the ceremonies of the day were marred by very unpropitious weather.' An interval of a little more than a fortnight will elapse between the departure of Lord Plunket and the arrival of Lord Islington. During that period Sir Robert Stout, Chief Justice, will act as Administrator. He will take the necessary oath nest Tuesday, the day following Lord Plunket's departure from the Dominion. This will bo done in Wellington, the oath being administered by a Supreme Court Judge who has previously attended a meeting of the Executive Council.
