PERSONAL ITEMS.
The Prime Minister (Sir Joseph Ward), the Hon. J. Carroll, and the Hon. J. A. Millar are in Wellington this morning. The Hon. G. Fowlds and the Hon. Dr. Findlay are at Auckland, tho Hon. R.- M'Kenzie at Nelson, tlio Hon. T. Mackenzie at Dunedin, the Hon. D. Buddo at Kaiapoi. and the Hon. A. T. Ngata at Port Awanui. Sir Joseph Ward and the Hon. J. A. Millar will leave for Auckland by the Main Trunk express on Monday. They may possibly bo accompanied by the Hon. J. Carroll and the Hon. T. Mackenzie. The Hon. G. Fowlds is expected to return to Wellington next Thursday afternoon. Three members of the Cabinet (Sir Joseph Ward, and the Hons. J. A. Millar, and G. Fowlds) have accepted invitations to be present at the annual dinner of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce next Tuesday, and the Hon. J. Carroll is also endeavouring to attend. Tho ■ speakers will include Mr. W. F. Massey, M.P., Leader of the Opposition. The Hon. R. M'Kenzie, Minister for Public Works, left for Nelson yesterday to attend tho funeral of the Hon. It. H. J. Reeves. The Minister will probably return to Wellington on Tuesday. : y The Hon. T. Mackenzie, Minister for Agriculture, is expected to arrive jn Now Plymouth on Tuesday evening next, and he will open the Taranaki Winter Show on the following day. Tho Hon. Dr. Findlay will probably return on. Thursday from his visit to the Auckland district. Mr. H. S. Fitzherbert, S.M., is making a good recovery from a recent serious surgical operation. It is probable that the Hon. T. Mackenzie, Minister in charge of -the Tourist Department, will mako an excursion to tho North Egmont Mountain House next week (states the Eltham "Argus"). As Minister of Industries and Commerce, he will visit the oil works of, tho Taranaki Petroleum Company at Moturoa. At the offices of the Union Steam Ship Company, at Dunedin, Mr. Henry Holmes, of the correspondence department, on leaving to take up a position in Wellington, was presented with a travelling bag and rug. Mr. James Wood, Government Printer at Papua, is spending a holiday in Wellington. He is tho guest of Mr. T. W. Butcher, "Bra'emar," Kelburne. The teachers and elder scholars of the Wesleyan Methodist' Sunday School, Brooklyn, met on Thursday night at a social evening to express their appreciation of the valuable services rendered to the school by Mr. W. Howe, who has for some time past been in charge of the infant department, and is now leaving to take over the infant department at the Central Mission. During the evening Mr. Howe was presented with several pieces of aluminium ware as a token of esteem, to which the guest of the evening suitably responded. A very enjoyable even-, ing was spent with games and musical items.
