CANTERBURY CHAMPIONSHIPS. (By Teleeraph.-Prosa Association.! Ghristchurch, June 3. The Canterbury Boxing Amateur Championships were decided to-night. Results: Bantam-weights. — C. Chisnall, Christchurch. Feather-weights.—E. T. Gundry, Staveley. . ... Light-weights.—R. Simpson, Belfast.. Welter-weights.—A. T. Griffen, Temuka. Middle-weights.— L. Cade, Christchurch. Heavy-weights.—AV. J. Roberts, Ashburton. THE SOUTHLAND TOURNEY. Invercargill, June 3. The finals of the Southland Amateur Boxing Association's championship were boxed to-night, when there was a very largo attendance. The boxing throughout was good and interesting, ■ and in several cases an extra two-minute round had to be contested to enable the judges to arrive at a decision. Results:— Middle-weight Final.— "J. Rifey" (Dunedin) beat J. J. Hughes (Invercargill). . Light-weight Final.— J. H. Finnerty (Dunedin.) beat H. AVinter (Dunedin). Feather-weight Semi-Finol.—T. Allen (Dimedin.) beat J. H. Thompson (Irivereargill). After an extra round, G. Gibb (Dunedin) beat F. C. Jarv'is (Invercargill). Final:'Gibb beat Allen, after an extra round. : Heavy-weight Semi-final.—P. M'Quarrie (Bluff) beat G. Stark (Inve-rcargill) ; M.. F. Ryan (Bluff) beat AV. M'Donald (Invercargill). Final: Ryan .beat M'Quarrie. Welter-weight Semi-final.— J. Fea-rn (Invercargiil) beat R, Alford (Kapuka), after an extra round. Final: "J. Riley" (Dunedin) beat J. Fearn '(Invercargill)- . • , - ' . The AVellington provincial amateur boxing championship'will be held in the Town Hall on June 28 and 29.
