At the City Council to-night claims for compensation amounting to over ,£1(30,05) were received from owners of business promises on the site which has been taken under the Public "Works Act for the erection of frho new electric, power station. The biggest claimant is J. J. Craig, Ltd., XMS.OfiO, partly for land, taken, and partly I'c-r injury to access of other lands and disturbances to buai ness. the other claimants are Logan Bros., Jolm Burns, and E. and W. Hellaby, Ltd.
