MONTHLY RETURN. The numbers of stock slaughtered at the City Abattoirs ('last April are nt follows:—Cattle, 288; sheep, 2228; lambs, 515; calves, 20. Out of this number, 11 cattle and 27 sheep wore condemned as unfit for .human consumption. The fees on stock amounted to .£75 10*. -hi., being a decrease of *£1 'is. lfld. on last month. The fees due from meat export slaughterhouses amount to .C2oo Is. 10(1., an increase of >£18 2s. !KI. on the previous month. The amount' due on the sale of oit'al and runners is XGB 9s v 10d., being also an increase of £1 14s. 11(1. on the month' of March, thereby making a total for the month of April of ,£391 2s/ CHEAP AND EFFECTIVE, ; Just about, the cleverest machine in* Vented to keep milk cool and sweet, and' to preserve the dairyman his true lest, is ENG'S AUTOMATIC .
