The forty-third annual show of the Christchurch Poultry Club was opened in the lvin,i Edward Barrack*, in conjunction with four specialist clubs—vi/.., the South Island Leghorn and .Minorca Club, the Christchurch Pigeon Club, the Christcliurch Cage Bird Club, and the Christchurch Cat Club. Entries totalled over 1412, as against li-GO last year. The club? best record was lli.iii in 1!)0G. Leghorns lopped the list v/irh 155, Wyandotte* hoi next with SI. and Orpingtons 54. Many well-known breeds —Dorkings, Cochin*, and Spanish—are absent. Pigeons number 40iJ. working homers making the strongest elates. Next come long-faced tumblers, which number KW odd, a New Zealand record for tho breed. Magpies, show homers, and dragoons arc well represented. There are -2S cage birds, which is also a Dominion record. There are 93 cats on show, which is another Domiuion record. The South Island Association championship* are distributed in groups, this year, this being an innovation. The group for pigeons fell to Chrisichurch, and the winners are:—Owls (and besbpigeon in the show), S. Otley; muffed tumblers. T. H. Jones; pouters or croppers, G. Clark; dragoons, A. Gapes; show homers, E. D. Rees; working homers, Geo. Anderson.
