The half-yearly meeting of the l'oneke Lodge (U.A.0.D.) was held on Monday evening, b'ro. uray presided, and there was a good atteuuance. Four' members wore declared ou the sick fund, i'mir candidates were admitted to the order, and ons proposal lor membership wns reeeired. Visitors were Bro . lienson (Bnimierton), and the D.P. Bro. Cuncliffe. On Thursday next an official visit will bo paid to the Mungaroa Lodge, Upper Hutt. Receipts for tlie eveniui! (otiilled J:77 13s. The following nominations were received for the ensuing term: A.D., Bro. Devine; V.A., Bros. Townsend, Mart, Kidge, and Sherwood: secretary, Bro. W'ynyard; treasurer, Bro. Davis; M.S., Bro. Brownhill; 1.G., Bro. Shaw; 0.G., Bro. dough; A.D.,85., Bros. White, Skinner, and . Hart; V.A.Bs., Bros, tiough, Woolford, List, and White; auditor, Bro. List (elected). Tlie executive committee, which have, in hand the details of the Henry—Potts' Mission in Petoiie, report that interest is increasing in the mission. Application is to bo made for permission to hold mid-day meetings at tlie Workshops. Arrangements are being made for a scries of Bible-readings in the afternoon's, and a systematic visitation of the district.
There was a good attendance at the J'etone Men's Society last evening, when Mr. .1. Mockoridgo presided. A vote of thanks was accorded" Mr. Lee and other members, who had greatly improved the approach to the Young Men's Room. Mr. W. Foster, JI.A., gave an interesting paper on "The relation of morality to religion," and a subsequent discussion was participated in by (he Rev. J. D. Russell, Messrs. Siioll, Longfellow, Houie, Morgan, Lee, Baxter, Winship, and Mockeridge. To these speakers Mr. Foster made an effective reply. A lecture, which was to havn been delivered by Mr. Joliffc at the Hutt Valley Horticultural Society's meeting, was unavoidably postponed, owing to the illhealth of the lecturer. Trophies won at the recent show were presented to tlie following competitors: Mesdames Smith, and Hues, and Messrs. Austice, Trevethick, and Richards.
There was a good attendance at the Petone Hockey Entertainers minstrel performance, given in the Lower Hutt Town Hall, the proceeds of which are to be devoted to the Huh Recreation Club. A feature of the entertainment was thehumorous item of Master Jack Pollock, aged fivo. The programme was well received. The following contributing: The Misses Grading, Sullivan, and Miss Walsh, and Messrs. Chamberlain, Wood, Rodgers, and Coles, Wallace, Jf'Hwan, Wearne, Miller, Dolling, Wray, Kaye, Lockycr, and Simpson, and Master Gladin?. 'J'ho concluding comedy by Miss Ellen Jensen, and Mr. J. Culford Bell, evoked hearty laughter, both characters being well sustained. Mrs. Pollock's orchestra played the accompaniments. .
