THE LEADER PICTURE. TIER BROTHERS REMANDED. Tho charges arising out of the recovery of tho Lender picturc wore bofore tho Court again on Saturday, when Francis Edwin Tier was charged with that, oil or about April 11, 1908, at Wellington, he did break and enter the Now Zealand Academy , of Fine Arts and steal therefrom an oil painting by B. W. Leader, entitled "Southward from Surrey's Pleasant Hills," the picture being valued at £500. In addition to this chargo Miehai'l Tier and Francis Edwin Tier were charged ih conjunction with having stolen the snmo picture from,- tho Art Gallery between March 27 and March 30, 1910. Jackson, who appeared for tho amused, asked if it was necessary to increase the bail. Bail had already been granted to Francis E. Tier in tho sum ofv£loo. Chief-Detective Broberg pointed out that tho charge on which the bail haa been Jixed was one of theft. Tho charge was now orio of breaking and entering. Mr. Jackson urged that, although there wort: two separate cases, the alleged oil'onces concerned tho same subject. Ho HliggcstL-d that uno bail might cover the diaries. THEFT FROM THE WHARF. Archibald Crichton pleaded guilty: (1) To insobriety; (2) to stealing two pairs ol sheets, value 10s., the property of the New Zealand Shipping Company; and (3) to stealing a tweed overcoat, valued at £3 IDs., the property of some person or persons unknown. Sub-inspector Norwood stated that the articles were stolen from cases which had been landed on the wharf. Uo asked that accused bo remanded to Juno I for sentence, as further charges miuht arise. Mr. I'. W. Jackson appeared for accused.

REMANDED TO WANGANUI. A well-dressed young man named John Win. Collins, alias Major Collins, was chargcd with that, on May 24, at Wanganui, he did wilfully damage a phito-glass window, cruet, and crockory, valued at £21 155., tho property of G. Garguilo. Sub-luspector Norwood stated that accused had been arrested on account of the receipt of a telegram from Wanganui. Ho consequently asked for a mand, accused to appear at Wanganui on Wednesday. On tho application of Ml. 1?. W. Jackson, bail was allowed in the sum uf £50 and one surety of £50. JUVENILE COURT. Two juvenile offenders appeared in answer to a charge of stealing six newspapers. Both wero ordered to receive -tivo strokos of the birch: . OTHEtt CASES. 'J'hos. Louis Gardiner was convicted and discharged for Insobriety, and, for procuring liquor during-the currency.of a prohibition ordor, ho was convicted and fined 405., with tho alternative of sevon days' imprisonment. It was stated that there were in all 21 previous convictions against accused.

A labourer named Albert Thos. Skallio was charged: (1; With insobriety, and 1.2) iritii refusing to quit liccnsnd promises, tho Terminus Hotel, when requested to do so. It was stated that .incused had entered tho hotel under liie influence of liquor, and had ' been put out several times, but persisted in re-entering. On tile first charge, accused was convicted and discharged, Hud, on tho second charge, ho was convicted and lined 405., in default seven days' imprisonment. Clias. Fowler, charged with indecency, ivas convicted and fined £5, in default olio month's imprisonment. Samuel Cameron, appearing on remand on a charge of insobriety, was '.•ouvictcd and ordered to pay expenses, 17s. 6d., in default seven days' imprisonment. Defendant was allowed until Juno 1 to find tho money. Frederick George Bolton and Andrew Larson wero each convicted and fined 10s., in default 48 hours' imprisonment, for insobriety.
