HUNT CLUB'S MEET. (By Telegraph—Special Correspondent.) Palmerston, May 28. Tho next of the i'owelka cases will probably be taken on Wednesday. •The*, biggest turn-out of tho season took place at ,lackey town on Saturday afternoon, about iiity huntsmen taking part in the runs aver tho JackeytownLongburn course. The afternoon, though windy, was good hunting weather. Three hounds throw off at Mr. A. J. • Mitchell's property at Jackeytown, and, although they had bee.ii got together from all parts of the Dominion, they worked as a pack in splendid style, and gavo tho followers a "fine afternoon's sport, tho paco at times being fast, enough to test the be&t of horses and.hunters. Mr. 11. G. Shannon, master, was in charge of tho field, which ho handled in a capable manner. Special reference may bo made to two young lady hunters, Misses Angus and Malier, who followed tho hounds in courageous style, taking tho sbiffest jumps in a way that set an example to the best of the male riders. "The committee would he pleased to see more ladies taking part, and the example set by tho ladies' mentioned could well be followed by others. The first course was over the properties of Mesdames Buiek and M'Ewan and Messrs. Mitchell and Flyger, a cheek taking place on the Jackeytown Road. The second run was over the properties of Messrs. -Rowlands, Passey, Neilsen, and M'Ewcn, and a second check took place on the Foxton Line. A third run led over the paddocks of Mr. A. J. Mitchell," finishing up on the Foxtou Line, near Longburn. Afternoon tea was - provided by Messrs. M. and B. M'Ewen at tho Longburn Hotel, and was greatly appreciated. Votes of thanks were accorded the nropertyownors, and also. Messrs. M'Ewen for their hospitality.
