At a general meeting of members of the Wellington i Retail Tobacconists' Association, held on Friday evening, the appointment of Mr. H. F. Allen as secretary was confirmed. It was decided to ask Mr. X!. .13. ltussoll, of the British Empire Trading Company, to becomo patron. Mr. J. B. Speed was elected president, and the following executive committee was appointed Messrs. Armit. Aldons, Gilbert, Chatwiu, Holdsworth, Hayne.s, and Dentice. It was resolved that the association bo registered under the Unclassified Societies Act. Arrangements were made for interviewing the Minister for Labour (Hon. J. A. Millar) on' the question of licensing tobacconists, and other matters affectingthe .trade. The draft rules of the association 1 - were submitted by the executive, and agreed to with souk 1 amendments. A vote of thanks was uasscd to Mr. Gilbert for his services as secretary pro tem. to Jlr. Armit for the use of his rooms, to Mr! Robinson (Messrs. Nathan and Company) far 'his efforts in helping to form* the association, and to the newspapers.
