LACROSSE.

COLUMBIA, Gr .KELBUR NE, 3. Columbia won from Kclburne by fi goals to 3, but' the whoie story is Dot represented by those figures.' As a matter ol' fact, at one stage of the game it looked as if Kelburiic would come away victors, although'they were playing shorthanded and v.ith' probably the weakest side they have yet entered. Columbia secured possession early in the • game, and by- neat work between the homes notchecl the. first point. The Kelbnrno defenco at this period was noticeably weak.' On facing-off again Kelburne homes pressed continually, until Loughnane secured from a long pass by AY ebb, and found Columbia's net. Shortly after Meyer secured and registered another noint for the Blues. The Kelburiie attack continued pegging away, and cured their third point just, before'halftime. At the other end, Columbia homes had been busy, but from faulty passing and erratic shooting—rather than from any concerted or vigorous opposition--thev failed to add to their score, and halt'-time ' sounded with the score 3—l in Kelburne's favour.

In the second spell, the speed of the Columbia men played havoc with Kelburne's untrained defence, but it was not till the final , stages that they succeeded in breaking through, when they scored five goals in rapid - succession. Keiburne's homes continued to fight -until the last, but Columbia were . able to sparo two men to mark the most dangerous man, and only prodigies could have pulled the game out of their hands. O'Leary, Grant, Fama, I.eydon, and ■Woodgcr played well for the winners, while Loughnan, Jordan, and Neal were the best among the Blues.- Mr. A. G. Anderson was referee.

CAPITOL, 12;. WELLINGTON i. Capitol and Wellington met •on tho /Basin Reserve, and the former had a fairly easy win from the city team by 12 goals to i. The losers w;ere handicapped iu not having a full complement of players, but put up a plucky game, nevertheless, and in the final quarter gave a very fine exhibition, which resulted in three' goals being added. The superiority and vim of the-Capitol men was demonstrated by the nlay from the start, and goals came quickly and easily from the crosses of Borrowdale-and Montgomery. _ Before the half-time whistle sounded they had scored sis to their opponents' one.On changing ends, the Capitol Club scored with the same. regularity, but in the final quarter—as already stated—the Wellingtohians played with'more dash, and three times broke through the defence of the Greens. Besides the players already named, Dee, King, and Rankin played well, whilst . Robinson, Ryder, Wis, and Carver figured prominently for the Re("s. Mr. Clouston officiated as referee.
