CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES. United, 3; Metropolitan, 3. Karori, 1; Y.M.C.A., 0. Wellington, 2; Wesley, 1. An accident occurred during the progress of the Ka.rori-Y.M.C.A. match, which marred, the pleasure of the second spell. Gendall, playing right fullback for Karori, had the misfortune to fall and break his wrist; whilst Hammond, another ICarori man, had his •knee severely hurt. A Wesley player is stated to have received a- severe knock also. Miss M. Paterson, >of the St. John's Ladies' senior team, kindly rendered first aid to Gendall, and the latter subsequently watched the remainder of the game. KARORI, 1; Y.M.C.A., 0. This match, Karori v. Y.M.C.A., played on No. 1 Ground, Day's Bay, was last. Karori commenced to attack at once, but Y.M.C.A. returned tho compliment with vigour, and Cardo shortly took a shot at goal from offside. _ Subsequently, R, ■ Parton, Carde and Wheat ley endeavoured to penetrate tho defence, but Spiers cleared the situation. Freo hits in Y.M.C.A. favour brought no score, and occasionally the Karori forwards made splendid but futile dashes down into the opposing oirc-10. A little later Haase passed to Wheatloy, the latter having an unsuccessful shot. 'J he next incident of note occurred when Loader made a dash down 1 the wing. G. Davies followed up a shot:of Spiers, but he was beaten by Holmes. Murphy (Karori) registered a goal from olf-side, which was disallowed, and R. Parton, following up a free hit, centred to Loader whose shot from just inside tho circle wont up high .and over, the fence. After fifteen minutes' . play G. Davies passed to Aitken, whose shot went a few feet wide of the posts'. Loader presently inaile a splendid effort to draw blood, but after a long run, sent ill a wide shot. A shot by Aitken went wide of the mark, and an attack in which G. Davies and Aitk'en figured also came to nothing. Loadei then showed up with a fine , run but, when taking his shot at tho not, he inadvertently gave "sticks." Half-time p sounded, neither. sido - having effected a score. ' .

.Karori had tho -b6st of the second spell aiul, owing to the time taken off in attending to Gendall's injury, play had to ho continued after the light had failed; and proceedings were hard to distinguish. From the fresh bully-off, Gendall and G. Davies were conspicuous. Murphy then sent in a goal, but the referee ruled against him, believing the player to have taken the shot from outside the . circle: jEarori attacked, and made goal-keeper Collie look shaky mauy times.. I'ioador. obtained possession of. the ball, and dashed off down the whole length:of the field, and sent- the leather over the line. Hammond (Karori) here had to ,leave the field, and his side: continued with only ten men. Gendall," in staving off an attack of tho' Y.M.C.A. forwards, chief, among the attack being R. Parton and Benton, gave- "sticks." From the bully in the circle. Murphy had a shot, but the ball, cannoning otf Parton's pad, flew-..wide, of the posts. Y.M.C.A. forwards here charged; and Carde's fine attempt to reach the goalnet was . stopped by Gendall. Karori pressed, and Gendall hero fell and sustained the injury as described. After play resumed G. Davies initiated an attack. Murphy reaching the net and nutting on tiic only score of the day. Karori, I—o. ' There was no further incident of note. Dr. R. C. Morpeth was the referee. ' . .

METROPOLITAN, 3j UNITED, 3. Played at Kelburne Park, the match Metropolitan v. United proved exciting and fast, few .believing that Metropolitan hail a cliance of even drawing with United. From the bully-off Metropolitan made the pace, but not for long. The United forwards got. going, and Metropolitan's goal was In danger. Allen (United), in goal, saved a hot shot by one of the opposing forwards. Organ next passed to Smytlie, who dribbled the ball into a scramble by the 'goal. Then, after Organ had lost an opportunity of scoring, Owens secured the leather and notched the first goal. I—o.1 —0. Metropolitan had the upper hand for some little time, and but for their erratic eircle-shooting would have scored. Jones (United) dribbled the leather to the circle, but failed to score. The Metropolitan forwards then initiated au attack, and • Hall ("bulljt"). quickly found the net. I—l. It was observable at this stage that United were not playing their usual game, but play was fairlv even during the remainder of the spell. M'Kenzie (Metropolitan) centred the ball, and Hall gave the goalkeeper no chance. From the commencement, of the seoond spell, United 'having improved, Metropolitan were' soon compelled to concede a corner to save their goal. Jones shortly registered a fine. goal. Organ was next to field the ball and score, placing the United-ahead by 3 goals to 2, but Metropolitan were not yet done with, and presently Kitcbing, after a piece of hard and determined play, sent in the final goal. The game tlnis concluded- with honours easy. Mr. Falconer was referee.

WELLINGTON, 2j, WESLEY, 1. After a rather unexciting game on No. 3 Ground, Day's Bay, Wellington won from Wesley by a small margin. The play .of AYellington was certainly more determined than that of their opponents, and they deserved their win, their back division being siiporior to that of Wesley. Both 'forward- teams worked well, no score being registered during tho first spell. During the second spell Dnnn (Wellington) scored twice. Wellington were first- to draw blood, then Wesley came to light nnd found the net after an individual effort. When the light had failed, and. players were hardly to be distinguished, Dunn managed to lodge the winning point. Harty and .Morpeth played well for Wellington, and Birch (Wesley) played a good game also. Jacobscn (full-back for Wesley) had to retire through injuries. Mr. Hunter was referee. JUNIOR.
