ENTERTAINMENTS.
THEATRE 1(0 VA L. After a very' successful week, Messrs. Fullers' clever company of vaudeville artists made their tinal bow at the Theatre Royal on Saturday niylit. A new vaudevillo programme is announced for this evening, when some of -tiio artists who appealed on the boards last week will give placc to new performers,' including Athos ("the skating dude"), the Martin Sisters, the Musical Shirlcys, Fred. Harcourt (descriptive soloist), and Ivy Leslie (surio).
KING'S THEATRIC. The King's Theatre was crowded on Saturday night, when the .programme put forward by the management met with unqualified approval Every picture had a particular interest, and was screened in sucli a way that the audience got the very best out of it. • Probably the best of tho excellent productions was entitled "Paris After Dark," which film in itself is wortli a visit to the' theatre. A matinee performance given oil Saturday afternoon was largely attended, each child departing with a present provided by tho management. The programme is to be repeated tonight and to-morrow night. On Wednesday a complete change of Drogramme irill.be given.
HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE.
The matinee performance . at His Majesty's Theatre on Saturday afternoon was well attended, and tho young folk got full measure of enjoyment out of the entertainment. The house wa3 crowded again in the evening, and the excellent fare provided won' frequeiit rounds of applause. The Pnnchestown Steeploch.ise was one of the best, of tho many attractive sortienings. There was instruction as well as onjoyment in the programme, and humour of the broadest kind, notably in the movement of "Foolshead's Brothers." The programme will be repeated this evening and to-morrow night, and will givo way on - Wednesday to an entirely new bill.
STAR PICTURES.
A picture programme of agreeable variety, and not wanting in star items of distinct merit, is at present being shown at St. Thomas's Hall, Newtown, by the Star Pictures management. Good attendances are reported of the Saturday niatinna and ovening exhibitions of pictures.
HAMILTON-MAXWELL DRAMATIC COMPANY. 1 The season of the Allan Hamilton and Max' Maxwell- Dramatic Company will bo inaugurated next Saturday evening at the Opera House, ivhen that gem of Bland liolt's repertoire, "Woman and Wine," will be produced. The piece will be staged in the same elaborate way as it was produced in Sydney and Melbourne by Mr. Bland Holt, with whom the new firm have made an extensiro contract for the production of majiy of his repertoire. The play, which 'is by tho well-known Arthur Shirley and Ben Landeck, is a stirring one, and deals with many exciting and thrilling scenes and situations. Tho costumes are magnificent, being the same as made in London for tho original Australian production, the scenery specially painted by that most capable artist, the late Jno. Brunton, and the various accessories and properties of the most complete, character. The company is a w r cll organised one, tho principals having been with Bland Holt companies during, a number of years, and arc all capable artists, of whom the Australian press speak most highly. Reserved scats may be securcd at Holiday's from 10. a.m. to-morroiv (Tuesday). NEW ZEALAND PICTURES. - The varied series of "New Zealand Pictures" was produced for the last time on Saturday in tho Town Hall, a large audience attending the matinee exhibition. SKATING RINK. Tho new, floor put down at the Skating Rink has been approved by experienced skaters, as it is fast and free from' the slightest unevenness. It is swept daily, so that little dust is raised to cause annoyance to tho whirling throng. Many improvements have been ■ made at the rink, and, as tho ikates obtainable there arc all tested, learners are offered every facility for enjoying the novel sensation of gliding, round the spacious floor. The rink is open afternoon and evening.
ORGAN BECITAL. Mr. Maughan Barnett gave another organ recital (under the auspices of the City Council) on Saturday evening. Tile programme given 011 the occasion of the "City Organist's" hundredth recital was repeated, and included such geins as the "Peer Gynt". Suite (Greig), a fantasia 011 Gounod's "Faust,"; and Mendelssohn's ' Sixth Sonata. CONCERT AT WADESTOWN. On Friday evening at Wadestown a very successful concert was given by Misses P. Bain and M. Webbe, in aid of the funds of the AVadestown Club. The following contributed items: — .Misses P. Bain, M. Webbe, O'Donovan, Messrs. Wilson, H. Wyatt, and Condie.
