A. J. Percy and T. P. Lett. 1 Mr. l< , . 35. Nottage, Government Pomoloiiist, is at present in tho Mas- : torton district. He will probably make ' arrangements fur a demonstration ol " spraying at an early dato. Much interest is being taken , in the sheep and dog trials, which arc shortly to bo held mconnection with tho Mastorton Collie Club. It ia expected that ' some- of -tho best collies in tho Dominj iun will compete. 1 Messrs, AYhilcombo (District Traffic Manager) and Widdip (District Engineer) have made a careful inspection of the railway siding which it ia proy posod to put /in at tho A. and P. As- • Kociation's new show ground at Solway, and linvo expressed the opinion that 1 tho siding will be of ftroat valuo to the J district. Bxcollont progrosH is being niacin s with tho erection of tho freezing works 1 at Waingawa for tho Wellington Farm- ; ovs' Meat Company. It is said that tho works will bo amongst the most " complete in tho Dominion. r A sitting of the Ikaroa Maori Land ' Council was held here to-day, before 1 tho president and two assessors, when • Iho lease of two sections at Akurti to 1 Mr. S. Ccmncli was approved. Tho 3 application by Mr. A. Tinsle.y for tho 1 loaso of a section at Manain, and sov- ' eral applications in connection with 1 Lower Valley lands were deferred for 5 hearing at the sitting of tho council in 5 Wellington on June 7. s In the senior hockey matches played t to-day tho Post and Telegraph team s defoa'ted Martinborough by six goals ' to nil, while Excelsior defeated Knox 1 also by six to nil. In tho junior section, itamblers defeated Dalciicld by - four to two; Cartorton beat District - High School by two to nil.- The match - Huia versus Greytomi rosulted in a draw. Tho Ladios' Bracnlet match in connection with the Masterton Homing Pigeon Club, flown from .Wondvillo today, was won by Mr. J. Bradbury's bird, which was nominated by Miss Z Davis, of Wairoa. Mr. Drake's bird, ' nominated by Miss Richards, was sec- ' ond, ami Mr. J. Dixon's bird, 110 mm ated by Miss Dixon, was third. There ' were about 130 compsting birds. It is ' somewhat of a coincidence that Mr. '' Bradbury won the Braculpt last year, 1 and that tho nomination was then in tho name of another Wairoa lady.
