King George accompanied the Kaiser ; this afternoon to Hampton Court, Chestnut Avenue, Bushey Park, and Windsor. The Queen-Mother Alexandra and her sister the Dowager-Duchess of Russia will proceed at an early date to Sandringharu, and thence to Denmark. REMARKABLE CEREMONY IN INDIA. ALL SIDES REPRESENTED. . Calcutta, May 22. An unprecedentedly united demonstration of mourning and loyalty, took place here on the day of King Edward's funeral. Threo hundred thousand Hindus, including many of the aristocracy and the entire middle class, and representing all shades of opinion, marched two miles, barefooted, and dressed in white, to the Maidan (or Great Park) in Calcutta. They carried at the head of the procession a life-size portrait of King Edward. It was wreathed with white lotus flowers and lilies, and surmounted by an embroidered umbrella—lndia's emblem of royalty. Tho Maharajah of Dnrbhanjja (Sir Ranieswara Singh Bahadur, who recently of/ered to erect an equestrian statue of the late King), made a fervent speech. He said King Edward's death was a signal to the Indian people to compose their differences and live lives of peace, love, and loyalty. ( Among those present were the editor of the "Amrita Bazar Patrika" (an organ of native opinion), Surendra Nath Banetjee (editor of the ''Bengali"), and Chupendra Nath Bose. KING GEORGE'S MESSAGE. TO "MY PEOPLE." London, May 22. King George, through the Home Secretary (Mr. Winston Churchill), in a letter addressed to "my people," acknowledges the voice of affection and loving' devotion to his father's memory received from every part of the Empire. The letter continues:— "The outward public demonstrations of tho pathetic manner in which vast multitudes have patiently and reverently awaited tho opportunity to pay their last tribute have profoundly touched mo and my whole family. "Tho sentiment evoked by -the sorrow was so sudden and unlocked for that it made mo realise the loss was a common ono for mo and my people. I therefore take courage, and hopefully look to tho future, strong in my faith in God, trust, ing tho. people, and cherishing the laws and constitution of my beloved country." On the occasion of the Accession of King George, various remissions of sentences will be announced.

HONOUR TO FRENCH MISSION. London, May 22. Queen Alexandra summoned M. Pichon (French ' Foreign Minister) and the French Mission (who attended tho late King's funeral), and stated how profoundly she had been touched by the sympathy of the French President (M. Fallieres) and France. King George farewelled the mission at Victoria station. PORTUGUESE ROYALTY. AT.PROTESTANT SERVICE IN LISBON. (Rec. May 23, 11.10 p.m.) Lisbon, May 23. Queen Amelio (mother of King Manoel of Portugal), the Princo Regent (tho Duke of Oporto, the King's uncle), and the Cabinet attended memorial services in the Protestant Church, Lisbon.
