THE ARGENTINE EXHIBIT.
MB. GOW'S MISSION. In the course of an interview on Thursday, the Minister for Agriculture (Hon. T. Mackenzie) said that although tho original decision not to dispatch an exhibit to the Argentine Centenary Show had been reversed, the Government was still without any reliable information as to the prospects of doing trade with that country. Upon reconsideration, it had been de.cided that the wisest course tto pursue would be to dispatch an exhibit in charge of a representative who could make inquires as to trade conditions. Both at Buenos Ayrcs, Monte Video, and Bio de Janeiro, Mr. Gow had been selected for this mission, and was now en route. Ho would return to JNew Zealand via North America, and while in the United States would inquire as to the further development of the kauri gum export trade to that country: . With reference to the Dominion's exhibit in the Argentine show, tho Minister stated that it comprised a good ■variety of typical specimens of the products of the country. The aim had not been to make a bulky display, but a thoroughly representative one. "There were samples of flax, a very fine collection of apples, and a good display of wooden goods. Mr. R. 1). D. M'Lean, of Alanaekoho station, Hawke's Bay Had also provided a collection of magnificent fleeces, which had proviousfy been shown at exhibitions in Great vitain.
