Tho Wanganui Hospital Board, under whose jurisdiction tho new institution will be, has accepted a: tender for levelling nnd clearing the site. The introduction of now blood tho Hospital Board, as the result of tho recent election, has resulted in. the setting up of a committee to manage various deportments of the board's work instead of everything being. loft to a small executive as heretofore. The change was not effected, however, without a long nnd heated discussion at the board's • table yesterday afternoon, tho older members appearing to resent the appearance of the "new broom." Finally, n. resolution iu tho direction indicated was carried by six votes to five, and the noeessary committees set up. Sommorvlile, who has been in _ indifferent health for some months, is reported to bo convalescent with every prospect of speedy recovery. The'Wanganui Council of the Churches is arranging for a united memorial service in connection, with the death of King Edward, to bs held on the day of tho funeral.
