THE HUNT.
MEETING AT OTAKX A meeting convened by' Messrs. A, Strawbridge and J. flowell for the pur. pose of forming a branch of the Manawatu Hunt Club was held in the clubroom, Otaki, on Tuesday evening. Messrs.' G. Shannon (Master) and Davidson, (secretary), of the Manawatu Club, were present; also Mr. Jamieson. (secretary of the Levin branch). Mr. Davidson stated that the meeting had been called for the purpose of forming a sub-committee. It was the head body's wish to achieve thorough success, so that the club would be known as. the best hunt club in Hew Zealand, There should be no difficulty in getting from 200 to 250 members.
The election of officers resulted as fc4. lows:—President, Mr. T. Bevan, iun.4: vice-presidents, Messrs. C. A. Monckton, Ling, A. J. Podevin, A. Skerman, and AV/ Tompsitt; deputy-master, Mr. A. Strawbridgfe; secretary and treasurer/ Mr. Jahrieson; committee, Messrs. Beattie, Burnell, Hanion, Moorhouse, EirkIcy, with Messrs. A. Drake, and D. Thomson, acting ex officio, J". D. Howell, W. Jl. and E. l>. Simcox, G. H; Kingdom, H. Small, Kupu Hamea, Hema te Ao, Allan, Roxburgh, with Messrs. Ling, Strawbridge, Monokton, and Podevin, ex officio (Otaki), A. Campion, George Watson, and T. Parata (Waikanae); delegates to Manawatu Hunt Club, Messrs. A. Drake and Ling. The question of how many hunts it was advisable to keep up was discussed, it being eventually agreed to have sis —two each at Otaki, Manakau, and Levin. .
Votes of thanks were accorded Mr, Strawbridge, the representatives ,from Palmerston North, and the. chairman.
