THE REFORM LEAGUE.
A meeting of .the Taumarunui branch or the Now Zealand, Political Reform League was hold in Gardner's Hall on Wednesday evening.' There was a fair attendance. Mr. W. J. Wilson occupied the chair. Considerable interest was taken in the proceedings, the most hopeful feeling being expressed as to the prospects of the Opposition party. Mr. T. Sl'Kean was appointed a.delegate to represent Taumarunui at the Provincial Conference to be held at Auckland on June 10. The delegate was instructed to bring before the conference the Native lands and townships question, roads and bridges (with special reference to the Ongaru Bridge), and the high price- now being placed on Crown land thrown,- open for selection. These were considered the princinn] matters retarding the progress of settlement in this district. It was also decided to write to Mr. Massey and request him to deliver an address in Taumarunui on the political questions of the d&y.
