ROYAL ACADEMY AND ROYAL COLLEGE OF MUSIC. EXAMINATION RESULTS. The Associated Board's second theory examination was held last year on November 20. Owing to the illness of one of the examiners in Australia, it was necessary to send the papers to London for assessment. The results were returned by last mail, having been unduly delayed by a series of accidents. As a rule these results are published in January. Those for 1909 have been awarded as follow: — Advanced Grade, gold medal: Rose Segrief, singing (St. Mary's Convent, Wellington), 140 marks. Advanced Grade, silver medal: May Brown, piano.. forte (Mrs. Levi, A.R.A.M. and L.R.A.M., Dunedin), 137. Next in order of merit: Margaret M'Kenna, pianoforte (St. Bride's Convent, Masterton), 135. , Litermediate Grade, gold medal.— Ida Pole, pianoforte (Herr Max Hirschburg; Christclnirch), 135 marks. The silver medal for this grade cannot be awarded. . Tlio Victor Harris Gold Medal.—Alice i). Rainbow (the Convent',' Palmerston' North), pianoforte. Three exhibitions,, aro offered annually to candidates in 'Australasia who show exceptional musical promise. The winner receives a free course of tuition at the Royal Academy or Royal College, London. An exhibition lias been awarded to Aimee Champion, licentiate, pianoforte, 161 marks (performers'), pupil of Mrs. Levi, A.It.A.M. and L.R.A.M., Dunedin. The following candidate was also recommended: Mabel E. M'Crorie, licentiate, , pianoforto, pupil of Mr. A. Vallis, Dunedin.
