MISSIONS TO SEAMEN.

Despite the wet weather, the Missions to Seamen Institute was crowded on Wednesday evening, when Mr. and Mrs. George Denton provided a very successful and enjoyable concert. Mr. .fames Moore, the missiouer, occupied the chair. Mr. Fitzgerald was responsible for tho musical arrangements nnd each item wns excellently performed and loudly applauded. The following contributed to tho programme:—Song, Mr. Blundell; recitation, Mr. Bass; song, Miss Frith; song, Mr. Denton; song, Mr. Sherlock (R.M.S. Turakina); duet, Misses' Frith; song, Mr. Fitzgerald; eong, Miss A. Frith; song, Mr. Denton; recitation, Mr. Keen (R.M.S; Turakina). Miss Frith played the accompaniments. Several very popular choruses wevo snng by the audience, and a most amusing conundrum competition was won by sailors from ships in port. During a short interval the missioner delivered an earnest address on temperance, taking the words "How Much a Week?" for a subject. Nino men. took the pledgo of total abstinence as a result of the address. Hearty cheers were given to the host' and hostess and the performers at the conclusion, and light refreshments were dispensed.
