SHIELD MATCH CONDITIONS. (By Telccrapb-Press Association.! Chrisfchurch, May 2. The New Zealand Cricket Council on Saturday night rejected a motion by Mr. Hardy (Taranaki) that no parson in receipt of payment as a cricketer or a coach shall be eligible to play in Plunket Shield matches until he has resided in the Dominion for twelve months continuously.

An amendment moved by Mr. Raphael (secretary) that no person Iμ eligible to play in any match under the jurisdiction of the Cricket Council unless he has resided in the Dominion four months continuously preceding tho match was also rejected, leaving the rale as it stands.

It was decided to make a refund to the Ma'rlboroutrh Association for the loirs made in connection with the visit of Lord Hawko's team, tho refund to bo in proportion .to that adopted in other cases. Marlborough's loss had not been brought under the attention of the council when the settlement was made in connection with the tour. '

An application from Bawke's Bay for a refund of the amount guaranteed by the local associations for the match against the Australians was-referred to the Management Committee of the council for report. Hawko's Bay had lost its match bo. cause the ground had beon flooded.
