Mr. Blondih—who is a Conservative (Opposition) member of the Dominion House of Commons for Champlain, , in the French-Canadian province of Quebec—in a speech at Coteau Landing, Quebec, advocated the formation of a French-Canadian party on the pattern of Mr. Redmond's Irish Nationalist party at Westminster. Mr. Blondin supported the naval policy of Mr. F. D. Monk, K.C., Leader of the Quebec Opposition in the Dominion House of Commons. He believed the suggested • party would eventually hold the balance of power. ■ The Toronto correspondent of "The Times" states that groups such as Mr. Blondin suggests are a probable development in Canadian politics' in the near future.
CABLES AND COMBINES. TWO IMPORTANT BILLS, ■ Ottawa, April 26. Thfe. Senate at Ottawa adopted the report of a special committee on the Bill introduced by the Postmaster-General (Mr. Lemieux), placing the cable companies under the Railway Commission' p control. The Bin amends the permit to the Commercial Cable Company to retain its privileges in Canada by Bpecial legislation. The Bill will be read a third time to-morrow.
