. [The tragedy at Inverell. (341 miles north of Sydney) was thus reported in a cablegram . last December: "A, settler named Donaldson got into debt through wagering'on a boxing contest in which his son was engaged, and in a fit of moroseness, attempted to shoot some members of his family, who lived on his son's farm. " A- daughter . was wounded, but not .seriously; and -.another shot, aimed at the girl's mother, missed.' Young Donaldson ■ then ob-: tained a gun and -exchanged shots with his father.
