AUCKLAND AS PORT OF CALL. NEGOTIATIONS IN PROGRESS. ' IBy Telegraph.—Press Association.! , Auckland, April 27. The resuscitation of the mail service between New Zealand and Europe by way. of the Pacific is being energetically worked for by the president of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce (Mr. J. H. Gunson), and at the present time negotiations are in progress between him and Sir Joseph Ward and' Sir James Mills (managing director ' of the Ilnion Company) in connection, with the Vancouver service, ' Sir' James Mills left for Australia the other day 011 business connected with the service, and upon his arrival in Australia the Auckland Chamber of Commerce expects to rcceive communications ' from him on the question of a possible alteration of the service 50 as to include-Auck-land as a port of call. Sir Joseph Ward has also been communicated with on the subject of Government support to such a jjropossl, -and the Chamber, is now awaiting » reply from tho Prime -Muofltoc.. ■
