Expenditure: Balance, March 31, 1909, £5269; Mayor's honorarium, £75; salaries, £576; library account,'£l3s; recreation ground account, .£288; sanitary account, £1761; interest accounts, .£1305; total, £22,045. Other items of expenditure were:—Eastern drainage, £6133; ISO 9, £1233; available for expenditure, £1465. Wharf loan, £71; 1909, £563; available for expenditure, £364. Gas-working account, debit balance on March 31, 1909, £545; 1909-10, £6051;. interest, £1040; gas fittings, £561; total, £8199. ■■.•-■

The Mayor intimated that councillors would be given an opportunity of discussing the balance-sheet at next meeting.

On ' receipt of a ' letter' from tho ; Wellington City Council, suggesting that united representations should be mode to the Government urging that a suitable railwaj station should be erected in Wellington, the council agreed to co-operate in the proposed movement.' ■ The Commissioner ..of Crown Lands complained of the growth of noxious weeds in the catchment area, Normandale Settlement. The council resolved to reply that it had spared no efforts to.eradicate the weeds. . . •

In. regard to a communication from the Miramar Borough Councili asking if the council would exchange debentures, it was. agreed. that a reply should be eent to the effect that .no debentures were available.-, :

The Mayor and .two. councillors. were, appointed to examine tenders for cartage, , a report to be furnished at 1 the next council meeting. >
