National -Dairy Show Comnlitteo was held this afternoon. ■ Present: Major Dunk (chairman), Messrs. Standen, M'Crea, Sutherland; Balsillio, Jl'Rae, Lancaster,' 1 Batchelor,. Cohen, 51 'Kenzie, Hodder, Gibbons, Johnston, Pringle, and Tliomas. .Correspondence was read from ' the Ngairo Dairy Compauy giving particulars of the. coins being distributed through' the half-ton - cheese for the dairy show. From Mr. H. C. Gibbons,: accepting the- position of judge of. vegetables and potato;classes. From the-.Department of Agriculture,, inquiring "what space -would' for the Department's 1 exhibits at the dairy ,show.; : i. ." ■ "■.:.'-."''. ; "-."
In regard'to the football: contests' usually;-held during the National Dairy Show/week, Mr. M'Eae moved and : Mr. Cohea;:seconded. a motion: to, the effect • that 'a circular. be • issued •to all colleges ; and high schools in the Dorninion. stating that it {was the. desire of the "association, to institute an; annual football tournament'in connection with •the;dairy show', and, if sufficient support- accorded to\the movement,, the committee would provide a valuable trophy 'for-competition'.'.. The motion was carried unanimously.. . i.'.'■.. ■ ._Mr. J. Sweeney wrofe that the conditions in \ connection with the -maiden hunters' competition-at-the'dairy show would pr6bably' : exclude, a number of horses which, had .merely jumped at ' country sports; gatherings. It was decided,:to..'.alter.;;the', definition •to read that; "any horse is. , .eligible^to compete that has not won a competition open to , , allcomers at x registered race meet•itife or agricultural showi" "':•,'• ■■ ', The secretary. of' tie'.Dairy Managers' 'Association wrote" that: a paper on , "Pasteurisation" would be read at the National Dairy Show; arid probably also one .on -tho' "Care of-Milk from the /.Cow to '.the Cheese... The. following senior stewards' were appointed for the. show:—Gates, Mr. J; M.. Johnson; ring... competitions, Mr. p. Pringle; dairy factory ■ produce, Messrs. Standen and Lancaster; fruit, Mr. W.M'Kenzie; vegetables, Mr. J. R. Foster Pratt; field' roots, farmers' seeds, and grain, Mr; A. -Sutherland; public school gardens and natural history, Mr. J. T. Hodder;"home industries, .Mr.vj. Balsillie; poultry, Mr. R. Lloyd; sale of the half-ton of cheese, Messrs. F.. S; M'Bae and J. A. M'Rae; space committee, Major .Dunk and Mr. W. M'Kenzie. >
_It was decided, to present the -.various medals, cups, and trophies won at the.show at.the.annual smoke concert and to have these placed on exhibition in some shop in the Square for somo time prior to the show.
