The nominations for the ' Onslow Mayoralty closed at noon yesterday. There was only one candidate, Mr. J. Q. Harkness (the sitting Mayor), who was nominated by Messrs. C. H. Izard, D. J. Watson, -Peter Thompson, and W. R. Plimmer. He was declared re-elected. ..
The nominations for the vacancy in the council caused by, the retirement of Councillor Carver also closed yester.day. Those nominated .were Messrs. R. E.' Flaws, Patrick Cavanagh, and Wm. H. Bowden. The election will take place on Wednesday noxt.
