(By Telegraph—Press Association.) ; Chrlotchurch, sApril 20.At the Addington live stock market thero was. again a large entry of. stock, though not so large as .those of late. The attendance* was good. Store wethers and ewes sold about the sac* as the previous week, but.'lambs were'easier. Pat lamb's were firmer by about 6d. ipcr head. Fat cattle, showed practically no change in values. Fat wethers and the best class of fat ewc3 were 'in. good demand af. late rates, and inferior ewes.were!rather easieT. There was ,a good sale for store and dairy cattle and i pigs. .... The yarding of; store "sheep was not equal-in numbers to those of recent sales, ■and the quality was again of mixed description. It. was composed chiefly of ewes and lambs of fair, and medium quality. There was i a short supply of young owes, forward lambs, and good wethers. ■ Many lots were' travel-stained and in low condition. Thero was a good demand, and wethers and ewes sold well up to last, week's rates, but lambs did not sell up to their late values except in odd cases. Wethers made 12s, to 15s. 3d.; breeding ewes. 10s. to 13s. lid.; aged and low-cohditioucd sorts, 4s. 4d. to 9b. 6d.j merino ewes, 4s. to 6s. Id.;,and lambs, 6s. lid. to Us. 6d. . ; . The entry of fat lambs was smaller than last week, the total being BSOO. and there wore a number of pens that were unfinished and ultimately were purchased to go on rape. The quality of the better class was good, and as competition was I keen among the export buyers prices firmed on an average about 6d. per head, all lots changing hands at auction. A few pens of show lambs from North Cantor, bury made'l7s. 7d. to 18s. Bd.; tegs brought 15s.' 6d. to 175.: ordinary, freezing weights, 12s. 6d. to 155.;/and light and unfinished. JOs. to 12s. i . There was another large yarding of fatsheep, the major portion •of which wero ewes. There was a good demand for wethers and for the better class of ewea for export, and these fully maintained tho previous week's rates. For older and not so well finished ewes' there was not such a good sale, and prices for these wero rather easier. The range of prices was:— 'Prime wethers, 16s. to 19s. lid.; others, 14s. 9d. to 15s. 9d.; prime ewes, 13s. to 17s. 4d.; others, 9s. 6d. to 12?. M.; merino cwe3. 7<p. to Bs. 3d. There wero 284 head of fat cattle penned, including a largo draft of station cattle from North Canterbury, and the""ouality of the. yarding was up to the usual standard. Thero was a fair demand, and prices unchanged till towards the close of tho sale, when the competition became weaker. Steers mado £7 to £10, and extra to £11 155.; heifers, £5' 2s. 6d. to £8; and cows, £,4 17s. 6d. to £7 ss„ equal to 18s. to 225. per lOClb. .according to quality. Veal calves formed an averago entry, and sold at 4s. 6d. to 545. There was a small yarding of store cattle, including several lines of good fifteen to eighteen-months sorts and yearlings. There was a fair demand, and late rates were maintained. Yearlings made 20s. to 385.; fifteen to eighteen-months. 355. to 495.; . two-year, steers, £3 2s. 6d.; three-year steers, £5 155.; extra, to ,£7 35.; three-year heifers, £3 ss. to £4; dry cows, 30s. to £3 10s.; dairy cows brought £3 10s; to £8 55., and extra, to £10. ' There was an average entry of pigs. There was a fair demand for choppers and baconers, but porkers wero a little easier. Stores showed some improvement. Choppers sold up to 605.; heavy baconers. 425. 6d. to 485.; extra, to 545.; lighter, 355. to 405., equal to 33d. to 4d. per lb.; large porkers, 31s.- to 345.; lighter, 28s. •to 305., equal to 4d. to 41d. per lb.; large stores, 225. to 265.; medium, 16s. to 215.; small, 12s. to 155.; and weancrs,.ss. to Bs. Fat sheop: 1951 penned. Prices for wellfinished sheep' showed a fair rise, but medium sorts realised tho 6amo prices as last week, while inferior ewes wero very dull of sale. The quality of the yarding was very poor. Best wethers, 17s. to 18s.; extra, to 245. 6d.; medium, 14s. 6d. to 15s. 6d.; inferior, 12s. 6d. to 13s. 3d.; best ewes, 12s. to 135.; extra, 18s. 6d.; medium, 9s. to 10s.; inferior, ss. 6d. to 7s.
