Senator Aldrich controlled the Senate by'means of ita committees, as Speaker Cannon (Republican) controlled the House of Representatives. Senator EKhu Root (who entered the Senate after a distinguished career as Secretary, of State in President Roosovelf s. Administration) will possibly succeed Senator Aldrich in the Republican Leadership of the Senate, The "Morning Post" declares that tb» retirements mean the replacing of men whose inclinations were Conservative by Heretofore New England has ruled the Senate; in future, it will bet governed by the.
