HUTT AND PETONE NEWS.
(From Our SDecial OorresDonient.) — :— SCHOOL COMMITTEES. Little or no interest is being 'taken in the election of the Hutt Valley Sohool Committee, which will be held very shortly. All the present members at the -Lower Hutt are offering themselves for re-election, and up to the present there have been no fresh nominations. With the exception of Mr. J. List, secretary of the Petone Committee, who is retiring, all the other members will offer themselves for re-election. ' Mr.' C. H. Snow has also been nominated. NO-LICENSE LEAGUE.
At a meeting of the Hutt No-License League, on Friday evening, the secretary was instructed to forward a letter of welcome to Dr. Henry, American missioner, who is at present in Wellington. A special vote of thanks was passed to the secretary of the bazaar and to the committee fir the services rendered. The Rev. H. Cotton and Ad-' jutant' Green > were .elected vice-presi-dents of the league. The remainder of the business was transacted in committee, .and the meeting adjourned until Friday evening. • ■
