TWO BECOKDS BEATEN. Honry Becker broke the world's record in' roller-skating one-half mile, at" the KiverViewi rink, Chicago, arid finished second, after starting from scratch, in a race with George Schwartz, who had a thirty-five-yard handicap, and: Frank Hen-nessey,-who had. a thirty-yard . handioap. His time was lmin. H l-ssec, lowering ■.the world's record' of lmin. 14 3-ssec.j made, a year ago in the same rink by Ollie Moore. , ■'■ ■.' ':■■■'■■.'
■■: An endurance- challenge test at skating has just been completed at the Geeldng bleating Kink by Professor. -W. Eckhard. He was- challenged by a 'youth named Olarke, - who gave, up footsore and weary after continuously skating for; 48 'hours ,16 minutes. Ho had to be carried off the i rink, having fallen asleep ■": whilst skating. '•.. Eokhard, however, continued, notwithstandiiig i the collapse of his opponent, and eclipsed his previons record of 60 hours 15 minutes by one minute.
