BIG GUNS ON WARSHIPS.

Sir,—May I correct a statement in your issue of to-day to the effect that no ships have ever been a'rmed with a larger cun than the 12-inch? Wβ have eight of the Royal Sovereign class still on the active list, armed with 13 flinch guns. The. now obsolete Admiral class or four ships were also similarly armed. The ill-fated Victoria was armed with 16.25-inch guns, as'also were the Sans Pareil and Benbow.—l am etc., . ...,'. ...,., " A. L. FORD. April 14. ' o [Our correspondent is quite correct. 6ome of the older typo of warships earned the big , guns mentioned, but more recently they have given way to tho l/-inch. Now there' are signs of a re-' vival of the 13.5-inch guns]
