Wedding at Wadestbwn. A pretty wedding was celebrated-at St. Luke's Anglican Church, Wadcstown, oh Tuesday, when' Miss Geraldine Stuart, daughter of Mr Arthur H. Stuart, of the G.P.O. staff, Wellington/was lnar-* ried to Mr. Bernard S. Withers, of Messrs. Leary and Co. Wedding at New Plymouth. ' A wedding, of considerable interest to residents in and. around New Plymouth took place yesterday afternoon at St. Mary s Church, when Miss Olive Kins eldest, daughter of' Mr. Newton King, was married to Dr. Sydney Allan, youngestson of the. late Mr. E. V G. Allan M.H.R., Dunedin. Lieutenant-Colonel Bauchop, C.M.G. (Wellington) acted as best man, and Mr. Truby King, brother of. the bride, as groomsman. The Rev. P.- G-.,Evans ..performed the -ceremony, mi l enall<l presided .at the organ. ■The .church had been very prettily decorated under ,the supervision of Miss K. Hamerton. The bride was given away by . her father, and "wore a lovely dress of ivory satin, .with tucked white chiffon yoke and sleeves, finished with pearl trimming. She.wore a dainty embrOidored, veil over the wreath- of orange .blossoms, and shei carried an exquisite shower bouquet of white petunias and maidenhair, fern. A Carterton Wedding. ,' Our Carterton correspondent writes that there was a pretty wedding at bt. Mark's Anglican Church yesterday. Miss Emily Clarke, daughter of the late Mr. J. Clarke,-- of Ahiaruhe, was ...married to. Mr Leslie Hodder, second son of Mr. John Hodder, late of Featherston, and now of Wanganui. The.Rev. R. Young officiated. The bride, who was given away bv Mr. J. Clarke, wore a dainty cream semi-empire gown and hat to match, and carried a bouquet of maidenhair, asparagus fern,.and cosmos. She was attended by her sister, Miss Harriett Clarke, and Misses Constance and Eva Hodder, sisters of the bridegroom, as bridesmaids, lriey wore dainty gowns of white silk, with plumed hats to match. Each earned a bouquet of maidenhair fern and cosmos. Mr. P. Reid, of Carterton, was best man. After the-ceremony' a reception, was held at A. L. Whyte's dining-rooms. .Women's Social and Political League. The monthly meeting of, the Women's Social and Political League was held at the league's rooms in Bidivill Street last night, Mrs. Koy ■ Brown presiding. The usual routine of business - was • gone through. Regret was expressed that Mrs. E. Anderson had left Wellington and gone to live in. Masterton, and a very hearty vote of thanks was accorded-her for her past sevviccs. Sho was- also elected an honorary member. Tho society has secured a .room, in Jameson's. Buildings, Manners Street, and the next meeting will bo held' there on the first Tuesday in tho month. .It was decided'. that a mock Parliament should be arranged at an early date by the members. • Two new members were elected, and an interesting •paper read by one of the members, brought a very pleasant evening to a close. ;-,■ '. '■; Tea on the Terrace. A very large number of gue6ts were present at the tea which Mrs. Sievwright gave yesterday afternoon at her house on Wellington Terrace. An amusing competition created much interest and was won by Mrs. Gibbons, Mrs. Schloss receiving the second prize. , Recitations were given by Mrs. ICTeeft, • Miss Devise, and Miss Pascoe, and sonss were sung by-'Mrs. Levy, Mrs. M'Villy, and Mrs. Wardle. Tea was served in the diningroom,., where, masses of pink.and white cosmos were used in the decoration of ■the room and the' table. Mrs. Sievwright wore a*frock of dark green silk, and Miss Kelly, the guest of honour, was hi violet velvet. Miss Mary Aitken, who arrived by the Ulimaroa yesterday afternoon, has been for twelve years in England, and for the past seven years-lady superintendent of the .model hospital established- by Mr. Georgo Cadbury at Dourneville, his wellknown model village a few miles out of Birmingham. Miss Aitken, who is a native of Nelson, is a sister of Mrs. F. W. Haybittle, . She has been granted twelve months* rest for the sake of her health, and will remain in New Zealand for four or fivo months. A wedding of interest to New Zealanders took place on March 2C at St. Mark's Church, Darling Point, Sydney, when Dr. Wclby Earle Fisher, F.R.C.S., England, son of Mr. Thomas R. Fisher, St. Clair, Dunedin,'was married to -Miss Irene Francis'Jacoby, only daughter of the-late Dr. Leopold Jacoby, of Paris, and' Plash Hall, Cardington, Shropshire, England. The Rev.W. Meredith Holliday. officiated. Mr. Hugo Gorlitz, who has been associated with music and musicians' and singers ,in London for many years, states that Lady Dicksori-Poynder, the wife of the Governor-Designate of'-New Zealand, is very musical,-and has always engaged tho best talent procurable for her "at homes," and in many other ways shows her enthusiastic love of good music. The coming of. such a .lady to New Zealand should -have an influence for good on music generally in the Dominion. '. Miss Nicol, who came to Wellington to see her two sisters off to England, has returned to PicteS. Miss/M. Elligott has ■ gone to Picton, Nelson and Motueka for three weeks.
