ESCAPE FROM PRISON GANG.

Two prisoners, Albert Stockbridge, aged 22, and serving eighteen months' imprisonment for breaking into the Carterton railway station; and Joseph Hcp'ie, aged 18, and serving twelve months for being one of th'e band who committed fifteen' burglaries in Wellington, and was arrested at Happy Valley with a,revolver in his possession, escaped from the gaol gaugi at 3 o'clock this afternoon. Alter an exciting chase ,Howie was captured 5 miles out by Gaoler Hawkins.. Stockbridge gained the shelter of tho bosh near the racecourse, and darkness cut the pursuit short. Men are posted all night. The search will be resumed to-morrovr 'morning. Capture seems almost certain.
