ROCKY PATCH IN DUSKY SOUND.
, AMOKURA'S SEARCH. On Saturday morning the Government training ship Amokura arrived at Bluff from Dusky Sound, whither she had been dispatched with a commission to endeavour to'locate the rock on which the steamer Wnikare was' wrecked in January last. The Marine Department has received a telegram' from Commander Hooper as,follows:— "Amokurai arrived here to-day. Rocky patch Bearings north 2Sdeg. cast magnetic from the north-west point of Indian Island. The least depth ascertained was 12ft. at low water ordinary springs. Tho. outermost rockis distant upwards of lj cables from tho point mentioned, and is distant ono cable from thd foreshore. The shoal patch is in extent a quarter cable length east north-east, and slightly less in width. It is steep on the north and west sides, having a channel between it and the foreshore, carrying from 6 to 19 fathoms of water. Excepting this patch, the channel on .the northwestern side of Indian Island appears clear, as the ship failed to find anything else with tho 20-fathom sounder which sho constantly trailed." i
