BIG PRICES FOR TURNER AND . HALS. By Teleerauh—Presa Aesociation-OopjrlEht New York, April 8. Forty of the late Mr. Charles Yerkes's pictures were , sold , by auction in New York, and realised £134,000 sterling. Sir Joseph Duveen purchased Turner's picture "Rockets and Blue- Lights," for £25,800. It proved a record day's sale. , Only one-fifth of the collection has yet been offered. , .
(Rec. April ,10, 5 p.m.) , New York, April 9. ' At the sale of Mr. Yerkes's pictures other art objects realised £406,890. Hals's portrait of "A Roman" brought £27,400. Two carpets from an Ardebil (Persia) mosque brought £12,500.-
