HARRIERS.
A muster of thirty marked the opening run of the Wellington Harriers on Saturday afternoon at Island Bay. The president (Mr. W. H. Bennett), declared the season open. The pack then started off after the hares (Messrs. Press and Chartres), who laid a .trail over the hill into Happy Valley aud back on to the main road through the now recreation grounds, thence along the hills on the eastern side of Island Bay, back to the starting point, Cliff House, where afternoon tea was partaken of by members and their friends. Next Saturday the Wellington and Brooklyn Clubs will combine in a run from Brooklyn, the start to be.madefrom Fulford's Hall.
The second weekly rnn of the Brooklyn Harriers was held on Saturday afternoon from Te Aro Baths, there being fifteen members present. The hares, W. N. Beaven and E.' Shaw, led a trail from Te Aro Baths along Oriental Bay to the tram terminus, then up the bill to Roseneafcb, along towards the patent slip, '■ and from the slip to Constable Street. It then went along the top of the hill to Mount Victoria, down Hay Street, and back to ivhe starting point. A Jim in was held of a distance of about 600 yards, which resulted in a win for C. Murray, with J. Don and jF. Hodson second and . third respectively. A combined run with the Wellington Harxiers will take place from FuUford's Hall, Brooklyn, next Satur-., day afternoon, at 3 p.m. sharp. '; The programme as mapped out for half tho season is as under:— April 16—Brooklyn. April 23—Thorndon Baths. April 30—Worser Bay". May 17—Karori. May 14—Hntt Park Novice Handicap, 1$ miles. May 21—Island Bay. May 28 —Miramar (sealed handicap), th-reo milos. Juno i. —To Aro Baths. .. Juno 11—Brooklyn. June 18—Karori.
