MINING NEWS.
WELLINGTON SHAM! MABKET. Comparatively Uttlo business was done yesterday, and the market generally was depressed, values showing a downward tendency. .Vfaihi have receded to £9 ss. 3d., and no one seems able to account for tho fall. Obviously there is some reason, but inquiries locally failed to secure any authentic information. New Sylvias are also lower, but' they are not expected to remain depressed for very long. Talismans ought to have advanced in sympathy with tho improved mining prospects, but they appear to be under tho influence of tho general quietness of the market. The sales recorded yesterday were as under:— Mountain ICina, lid. (first call). Talisman, 52sif (first call). Waihi, £9 ss. 3d. (second.call). Waihi Grand Junction, 31s. (first call); 31s. 3d.
