"PETER PAN." To-day's raatineo and evening performance will close tho very successful season'of "Peter Pan," which has been presented by Mr. J, C. "Williamson's Company at the Opera House throughout tho past fortnight. There was a largo audience again last evening, and the spell of Mr.. J. M. Barrio's delicate fairy play was still potent. Lord Plunket and Sir Joseph Ward will see it to-night. THEATRE BOYAL. • Between Los' Freres Crotton,' the Roman athletes, and Parker, tho Handcuff King,, to say 1 nothing of Charles Faning, the popular comedian,. Miss Blanche Carelli, and others, there is no lack of variety, in tho excellent programme of vaudeville which is experiencing such a popular vogue at the Theatre Royal just now. The programme will bo repeated this evening. ■■,'..', HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. •.. One of-the finest films shown in Wellington for some time is that of the great religions festival at Lourdes. Other fascinating pictures are: "The Western Maid," "The Call," "On, the Reef," ■. "A Midsummer Night's Dream," and "The Opening of Parliament." There will be a matinee this afternoon. '•..'. KING'S THEATRE. A splendid programme of animated pictures is being present at the King's' Theatre this week. All those who know Melbourne will be delighted .with the strikingly good views of the city, suburbs, and gardens which have been taken by' Pathe Freres, who make a specialty of city views. Other "good pictures are: "A Midsummer Night's Dream," "On the Reef," "The Call," and "The Egyptian Maid." The management announces a matinee performance for this afternoon. EMPIRE PICTURES. Still-they opine! Pictures here and pictures there, and pictures now at the Town Hall, where the chief incidents in the life,of Napoleon Buonaparte may be viewed in the space of a few minutes., This study is a particu-, larly, complete one, and is in keeping with :that. strange fascination inseparable -from- "le petite Corporal." Other good pictures: that are being shown are: "Muggins, . V.C.," "The Guardian of the 1 Bank," "Juggins on Motor-skates," and "The Prince of- Kybor." "FOR THE TERM'OF HIS NATURAL <, : ' LIFE." . • The living' picture reproduction of Marcus Clarke's famous Australian convict story, ."For the Term - of His Natural Life," which-.Messrs. MacMahon and at the Opera House.,-hesfc^Monday evening'promises to "prove" exceptionally attractive. Probably no story ever written adapts itself more readily to the ,pur/poses of living-picture enterprise;. The latest effort |of : this enterprising firm has been crowned with signal success. For some months past the entertainment has proved a big draw throughout the Australian States, where over 300,000 persons have witnessed this stirring kinematograph story. In addition to the "star" subject, an altogether hew and interesting selection of biograph studies will constitute the first pari of the programme. A spirited demand has set in for reserved seats at the; Dresden, where the box plan is now on view.
AMY MURPHY'S CONCERT. .■:■ At,the concert to be given by Miss" Amy Murphy in a few days the talented singer will be hoard in: the ' "Mad Scene" from "Hamlet," which is a test song for operatic soprani. In nice'eontrast she will sing three of Liza Lohmarin's "Bird ' Songs"—''The Woodpecker," "The Wren," and "The Owl" —Frank Tours's "Mother Mine," Jenny' Lind's Norwegian "Echo Song," and Tosti's "Good-bye." Miss Murphy will also sing a duet' with Mr. Ernest Paikes. Mr. Horace Hunt will.be the solo pianist. ■ ■- . ■'- , . ORGAN RECITAL. An organ recital will be given by Mr. J. Maughan Barnett 'in tho Town Hall to-night.. The programme will comprise: "Spring Song" (Hollins}, "Fantaisie Dramatitque" (Mailly), "Nocturne in E Flat" (Chopinl, overture "Tannhauser"' (Wagner), and works by Bach and Lassen. , , ..... GARDEN FETE. ■ A garden fete is to be held this afternoon at Vogeltbwn in the beautiful grounds of Mr. and Mrs. Howden, kindly lent for the occasion. The fete is in aid of tho funds of the Wellington Kindergarten Union, and should be most enjoyable. The Garrison Band will give a performance, at Lyall Bay this afternoon. .
