WATER AND RADIUM.

A CLERGYMAN'S MYSTERIOUS . ' . EXPERIENCES. (By Telssraph.—Special Correspondent.) . Dargaville, April 8. The Rev. H. Mason, of Auckland, arrived at Dargaville last night at the invitation of the local Borough Council to ascertain if he-'could find water in sufficient quantities to provide the borough, with an adequate water supply for'" domestic, purposes. 'Mr. Mason proceeded' to;;the highlands.'Jin, one' part.of the town and ,at a point about'one mile and -a-quarter from-the post office ho located .what'-he considered an underground reservoir which would provide, ho estimated, at least two hundred thousand gallons per day. Ho subsequently proceeded, to Mangawhare, a suburb of Dargaville, and there located on Mount Wesley another big stream which he maintains would* supply at least another two hundred thousandi gallons per day, so that if; the exploration work-, to follow is successful Dargaville will have more than an ample supply for the large population that is, likely to exist here in the near future. During his investiga-' tions Mr. .Ma-son -was considerably affected, the twitching.of his muscles and nerves being so severe that a feeling of deep exhaustion ensued for a short time after tho location of the underground streams.. During an interval in the proceedings Mr. Mason, related his experiences in- .experimenting with the mysterious power ho possesses in.connection with radium. In .this respect he stated that, being able to borrow a small particle of radium from a doctor in the .WairaTapa, he was- able to. prove . that this substance-exerted a F-omewhat similar effect on him' to .that mentioned./ When radium' was buried in a garden in a' position unknown to him he was able; by walking over the, surface of the ground to discover its whereabouts- by experiencing the same sensation of attraction, exerted over him as in the case of a water flow. Before leaving Mr. Mason said he considered that Nature-.had been very kind to Dareaville.
