WESLEYAN DEBATING SOCIETY.
The annual meeting of the Wesloyan Literary and Debating Society was held on Thursday evening' in the Young Men's Classroom, Taranaki Street, Mr. W. E. Fuller, presiding. The committee's report showed that the society was still doing good work, but regret was expressed at the small attendances at the ordinary meetings. The society had been successful .in winning ''the' union's first' short paper tournament. Tho report of the treasurer showed a small credit' balance; Officers' were elected as follow ■.—President, Hev. S. J.- Serpell; vice-president, Messrs. W. E. Fuller and J. N. Helliwell; lion, secretary, Mr. W..-J. Harris;, assistantsecretary, Mr. •' C. Travers;. treasurer, Mr. J. R; Burley;; librarian, Mr. E. E. Richards,-.editor: of ••journal/j-Miy.G.' S.
