LADIES' HOCKEY.
The ladies' hockey clubs find themselves in some trouble this year, for they. have lost thp hockey grounds at Miramar, whero. they have played for tho past few seasons, and aro now entirely confined to the grounds at Day's Bay, while at the same time the Daj>'s Bay Ferry Co. has raised tho faro. Hitherto tho hockey players'have paid 6d. for their journey to and from tho Bay, and now they aro, to be charged full fare, which' will, of course, add materially to the expenses of the game, and may debar many players from thoir weekly expedition. At tho annual' meeting of the Wellington Association, held on Wednesday night in the Y.M.C.A. Rooms, it was decided to approach the Wellington Ferry Company in regard to a reduction of this fare. Two new clubs have joined tho association, and it is expected that the. number of teams playing—there were twenty-five last year—will not bo diminished. In that case, there'will not bo.room for all at Day's Bay.' There was a, very satisfactory attendance of delegates and members at the annual meeting,' the • fifth which ' the Wellington Ladies' Hockey Association has held. Dr. Arnold Izard, president •of the association, was in the chair.
