CARNIVAL AND FANCY FAIR.
The. Carnival and Fancy Fair which is being held in the "Sydney Street Schoolroom' in .aid of the Roman Catholic School : Chapel-at Wadestown has proved most successful from every point of view. The stalls, have been well patronised by buyers,, who have received good value for their money, and the numerous . sideshows_ have, attracted large numbers of visitors. A specially enjoyable feature of the entertainments connected, with the carnival has been the pretty fancy dancing by sixty specially trained children, whose clever contribution to the programme is always heartily - applauded. . The stalls are still laden with .good things, both ornamental' and useful, so that visitors to the bazaar, may-rely upon having an excellent variety to sckct from. Among the numerous works of art to be disposed of is a beautifully painted panel, the, work of Miss Cannon, (who, it is understood, intends to take pupils in painting at an early date). On the panel is paintod'a series of very life-like cats, the effect being quite delightful. It is to be disposed of by Art Union, and one little girl who ■ has sold a large number of tickets has written some quaint verses, in which she tells how "a yard of cats" helped to build a church. The Art Union will be drawn this evening, when an exceptionally fine programme will be provided. Further particulars are advertised on Page 2 of this issue. ■'■•.•'
