RAILWAY POLICY, Sir,—The Honourable Mr. Millar, Minister for' Railways, and servant. of the people of New Zealand, is anxious to make the railways pay interest on moneys borrowed for : their construction. Quite right, but he. is workitfU very onesidedly to attain his object. He has •raised the fares on long-distance travel,, and now has raised . the handy timetable to 3d.; ■ which the. advertisements pay for. He might now beneficially curtail or- wipe out the concessions granted to all and sundry railway servants; n»t forgetting their families. These servants are in steady billets, and not likely, to get the sack, and if one could only pry behind the curtains a , little,' the concessions are not restricted'to railway servants only. Mr." Millar and all M.H.R. employees of-the public might investigate further, and act on'a fair basis. I agree with the Minister for Railways that those who iise the lines shall.pay for their use: I travel a' lot, and don't mind paying. Let all others do likewise, and I am sure the Minister's idpal would soon be an accomplished - fact.—l am, etc., ■ ■ \V. MARCCS JONES. Ingiewood, April 4. ~
