■On Saturday' last' the delegates to the Hibernian Society's Conference were taken for a drive, the route being via Hutt. On tho way out, the, Woollen Company's and the Gear Compan/s works wore inspected, and, thanks to the courtesy of these companies, -the delegates were highly-pleased and impressed with what they had seen. Lunch was partaken of at the Bellevne Gardens. Mason's Gardens were also visited, and on tho return journey afternoon-tea was served at Mr. Hodgins's Hotel, Lower Hutt. ' ■ , . . At tho 8 o'clock mass on Sunday at St. Mary's of tho Angels, about 200 members, including the- delegates, representatives from Wellington.' .Newtown, and Hutt branches, as well'as. tho Ladies. Branch, approached- Holy pommumon. After Mass-they proceeded in procession to Carroll's Tea Koonis for breakfast. Subsequently Iho processinn wended its way. to the Sacred Heart Basilica for half-past ten Mass. ' In the afternoon, the delegates and their friends, and .members of, the above branches (in all four brakes), were driven to the Sacred Heart Convent, via ■ the Queen's Drive. Afternoon-tea was served at tho convent. A special feature there was the.rendering of several Irish'melodies by the pupils. The House of Compassion was then visited. In the evening all attended devotions at Mount St. Gerard's. • • Sermons appropriate to the occasion were preached as follows:—Morning, Kov. Fathers Venning and Herbert; evening, Rev. This concluded the programme as drawn up by the-Eoception Committee, who are to be congratulated for tho excellent manner in which the delegates were entertained. Mr. J- W.
